Transfers Bayern Munich Hands Dier Permanent Contract

After making the requisite number of appearances specified in his contract, Eric Dier’s loan move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern Munich has been made permanent, the German Bundesliga club announced on Saturday.

After a decade at Spurs, the 30-year-old England midfielder reunited with former teammate Harry Kane by joining Bayern on loan in January on a season-long contract.

Max Eberl, a board member for sport at Bayern, said that Dier’s contract had been extended until June 2025. Eberl noted that the 30-year-old England international gave “valuable support” in defence.

Dier has made seven appearances in the Bundesliga with Bayern, five of which were starts.

I’m happy in Munich. Now my future is sorted and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games, win competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us,” Dier said.

Bayern, who have won the Bundesliga for eleven straight seasons, are currently seventh in the standings, seven points behind unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen, who still have one game remaining.

In the Champions League round of 16, Bayern will play Lazio on Tuesday. The German team is down 1-0 after the first leg.
