African players abroad Chelsea goal my best ever in Brentford career – Yoane Wissa

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa believes his spectacular finish against Chelsea is the best goal of his Bees career.

With 69 minutes on the clock, the ball fell to the DR Congo international inside the visitors’ box and he performed a magnificent scissor kick to beat Đorđe Petrović and give his side a 2-1 lead.

“This is the best one,” Wissa insisted, adding: “If I have to compare with the goal against Oldham [another acrobatic effort in the Carabao Cup in September 2021], this is better because this is the Premier League against this kind of team. Especially in this time – it’s not an easy time for every fan and player – it means a lot to me, especially after coming back from AFCON.”

Wissa added: “Frank [Onyeka] can be everywhere. I saw the ball was coming, I didn’t know he was there, and when it was in the air I thought I’d try something.“We can make some mistakes, but we can do something good when we try.”

Wissa’s goal sparked wild scenes at the Gtech. Asked why he darted over to the dugout to celebrate, he responded: “Because we are all in the same boat. This is what it means. This is Brentford and the way we celebrate. This is what I want to see every day. This is who I am; I am nothing without these players around me because they drive me. I need to see everyone together.”
