Nigerian Players abroad Awoniyi Subbed In As Forest Loss To Brighton

Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi came on as a substitute in Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League loss to Brighton.

In his 17 appearances in the competition, the Nigerian international has scored six goals and provided three assists.

Awoniyi replaced Ryan Yates in the 72nd minute and had limited impact.

However, Brighton scored the first goal in the 29th minute through an own goal by Andrew Omobamidele.

Awoniyi’s fellow Nigerian, Ola Aina, did not play.

As a result of the loss, Nottingham Forest is now 17th with 24 points, while Brighton is 8th with 42 points.
