Premier League Boost for Everton as Onana, Gueye fit to face Chelsea

Amadou Onana is back fit again ahead of Monday’s visit to Chelsea, while Idrissa Gana Gueye is also available after missing the clash against Burnley following the birth of his child in the early hours of Saturday.

Everton secured an important victory last time out, downing Burnley with a 1-0 win. That followed an impressive 1-1 draw away at Newcastle United, and next, they will hope to build on that when they travel to Stamford Bridge to face off against Mauricio Pochettino’s men.

Onana missed last week’s win but is back training, as confirmed by Sean Dyche in Thursday’s pre-match press conference held at Goodison Park: “He’s back training, he’s been training today.”

While on Gana, Dyche said: “His child and family are well. So he has been training this week and should be available again.”

The Everton boss further revealed that James Garner and Dominic Calvert-Lewin had been forced out of training sessions through the week, but is confident both are just suffering from “knocks” that won’t keep the pair sidelined for a prolonged period.

“Jimmy Garner got a knock today, but we are happy that’s just a knock,” he explained. “Dom didn’t train today but we are pretty positive with settling him down in the next couple of days.

“[He has] a minor niggly hamstring which we are just being ultra careful with. He thinks he is on top of it, and the medical team are as well. So we are just having to watch the players and make sure they are right. Mostly, we have just got knocks at the minute, nothing that we think will affect Monday against Chelsea.”

Danjuma, meanwhile, has been absent since the end of January after suffering ankle ligament damage during the Toffees’ goalless draw at Fulham. On the winger, Dyche added: “Hopefully, providing he came through today, he has a bounce game tomorrow (match for the U21s). We are going to use that to get him some minutes, he should at least be in the thoughts for Monday’s squad.”
