Premier League Van De Ven Late Goal Send Burnley Relegates Burnley

Micky van de Ven’s goal in the 82nd minute gave Tottenham a 2-1 comeback victory, sending Burnley to the Premier League’s lower division.

To maintain a slim chance of avoiding an instant return to the Sky Bet Championship, Vincent Kompany’s Clarets needed to win all three of their games.

With eight minutes remaining, Van de Ven, a left-back joined the fray in a tactical decision that paid off as the Netherlands defender curled home after Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs team wasted many chances.

Burnley was demoted to the second division, but Tottenham is still in the running to qualify for the Champions League as they have cut the deficit to four points with four games remaining against Villa in fourth place.
