athletics Amusan Smashes 100m Hurdles Record In Jamaica

Tobi Amusan, the current world record holder in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, won the 2024 Jamaica Athletics Invitational with a world-leading performance of 12.40 seconds.

The current World Champion beat her friend Danielle Williams of Jamaica, who ran 12.46 seconds, with a Season’s Best (SB) of 12.40 seconds (0.9).

American Christina Clemons finished third with a time of 12.54 seconds.

For the majority of the race, Amusan lagged behind American Nia Ali and reigning Danielle Williams, but in the last moments, she pulled ahead, surpassing the previous world record of 12.42 established by Tonea Marshall of the USA on April 20.
