Tanzania Azam FC to raid Pyramids FC for ex-Yanga SC dangerman Fiston Mayele

Tanzania Premier League outfit Azam FC, is reportedly making a groundbreaking move to sign Congolese striker Fiston Mayele from Egyptian giants Pyramids FC to replace wantaway attacker Prince Dube.

Azam FC lacks a pure goal-scoring striker, with Alassane Diao being the only talisman at the club, whilst Idriss Mbombo and Dube are currently out of the club.

In what is considered one of the most audacious attempts in recent times, Azam FC has extended an offer of US$15,000 per month (approximately 38.3m/-) to secure the services of the prolific forward.

According to Tanzania’s daily the Guardian, sources close to the player reveal that Mayele has expressed his desire to return to the Tanzanian league with just one season at Pyramids FC. Mayele, who previously dazzled fans with his performances for Yanga- a fierce rival of Azam FC- joined Pyramids FC last year.

His move came after a stellar season which witnessed the attacker laying his hands on the top goal scorer honour in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League and making significant contributions for his outfit in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Despite his proven track record, Mayele has found it challenging to replicate his goal-scoring form in Egypt, which has sparked rumours of his eagerness to return to Tanzania for the upcoming season.

During his tenure with Yanga, Mayele became a household name in Tanzanian football. In his first season, he nearly clinched the Golden Boot, scoring 16 goals and finishing just one goal behind the top scorer.

The following season, he elevated his performance by netting 17 goals, sharing the top scorer accolade with Saidi Ntibazonkiza of Simba SC. His contributions were not limited to domestic competitions; Mayele shone brightly on the continental stage as well.
