COSAFA Kenya to open COSAFA campaign against record champions Zambia

Kenya’s Harambee Stars will begin their quest for the 23rd edition of the COSAFA Cup with a fixture against Zambia on June 27th at 19:00 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

Kenya’s second game will be against Comoros on June 30th at 13:00 at Isaac Wolfson Stadium, a venue located in KwaZakele, Ibhayi just outside Port Elizabeth. Harambee Stars will then wind up their preliminary matches with a fixture against the Warriors of Zimbabwe on July 2nd, 13:00, at the same Isaac Wolfson Stadium.

Kenya, who will take part as a guest team, have been pooled in Group B of the tournament scheduled to take place from June 26 to July 7, 2024, in South Africa alongside the Zambia, Comoros, and Zimbabwe.

Group A includes South Africa, Mozambique, Eswatini, and Botswana, while Group C comprises Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, and Seychelles.

The top teams from each of the three groups will advance to the tournament’s semi-finals, along with the best runner-up. The best runner-up will be determined based on the higher number of points obtained in group matches, superior goal difference, and the higher number of goals scored.

If necessary, Fair Play points, considering yellow or red cards accumulated in the pool phase, will be used as the final tiebreaker.

Group A: South Africa (Host), Mozambique, Eswatini, Botswana.

Group B: Zambia, Kenya, Comoros, Zimbabwe.

Group C: Angola, Namibia, Lesotho, Seychelles.
