Tanzania Singida Black Stars joins fray to feature in CECAFA Kagame Cup

Singida Black Stars have joined Simba SC, Young Africans (Yanga SC) and Coastal Union as Tanzania’s envoys in the run for the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) Club Cup top honour.

The highly anticipated tournament, slated for July 6th to July 22nd in Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, promises to showcase intense competition.

The CECAFA Club Cup is also known as the Kagame Interclub Cup. Singida Black Stars replace Azam FC, who withdrew citing preparations for the upcoming CAF Champions League.

Singida Black Stars’ Media and Communication Officer, Hussein Massanza, confirmed the team’s participation, stating that the squad will arrive in Dar es Salaam on July 1st to prepare for the tournament.

“We have decided to utilise the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2024 as part of our technical bench’s programme in preparation for the 2024/2025 season,” Massanza explained.

In addition to regional powerhouses, three formidable guest teams TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Nyasa Big Bullets (Malawi), and Red Arrows FC (Zambia) will add further excitement.

With teams like APR FC (Rwanda), El Merreikh (Sudan), and Gor Mahia FC (Kenya) also in the lineup, the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2024 promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and determination among East and Central Africa’s finest clubs.

The cancellation of the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup 2024 underscores the focus on preparing players adequately for the prestigious Kagame Cup, setting the stage for an exhilarating football spectacle.
