Hugo Broos : South Africa head coach reacts to 2025 AFCON qualifiers draw

South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has had a mixed reaction on the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) when asked by Confederation of African Football (CAF) media.

The Bafana Bafana are on a good run under the Belgian coach who took them to a third-place finish at the last Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Ronwen Williams and teammates are also on track for the 2026 World Cup as they seat second in Group C with 7 seven points out of 4 games.

However, Broos is still careful with the draw as he shows respect to South Sudan, Uganda and Congo Barazzaville in Group K.

“When I look at our group in the qualifiers for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, I think I can be satisfied with the draw but also very careful”, the 72-year old said.

“First of all we have Uganda and they are a very powerful team, and very difficult to play against. So we have to achieve our best level against them.

“Secondly we have Congo and they are more of a technical team, and very dangerous when they play at home. So there also, again, we need a very good performance.”
