According to Gerald Baloyi of local agency Vodia Sports International Management, Peseiro has been approached by South Africa Premier Soccer League (PSL) powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Portuguese joins Frenchman Patrice Carteron and former Orlando Pirates head coach Josef Zinnbauer in being connected with Sundowns.

Despite Peseiro being connected with the Sundowns coaching post, Baloyi believes he could return to the Super Eagles.

Yes Vodia Sports International Management offered Jose Peseiro to Sundowns, though the Nigerian national teams are interested in bringing him to take over again,” Gerald Baloyi told KickOff.

Peseiro coached the Eagles to 1-1 draws with Lesotho and Zimbabwe on matchdays 1 and 2 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November 2023.

The Eagles are currently in fifth place in Group C with three points after four games.

They will start qualifying in March, facing Rwanda in Kigali before hosting Zimbabwe in Uyo.

Meanwhile, the Eagles will face Rwanda, Benin Republic, and Libya.
