Nigeria Premier League Insurance Distances self from purported Appeal to Gov. Obaseki Over Unpaid Largesse

The management and players of Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin have distanced themselves from the online report published by with the headline:Insurance Players Decry Unpaid Governor Obaseki’s Largesse.

The management of the Edo State government owned Premier League club believes that the purported report could be the handiwork of mischief makers sponsored by political detractors.

According to the secretary of Bendel Insurance FC Mr Charles Ihimekpen in his reaction to the fake news, the anonymous player quoted by the reporter couldn’t have been a player in Bendel Insurance FC .

Because all the players and officials in the Benin based club know that there was never a time or occasion that the Governor of Edo State made any promises of any kind of reward

“To put the record straight, the Governor did not promise us anything but we were only informed by the chief of staff that the Governor may invite us at anytime for a proper reception after our return from Asaba.
