Egypt advanced to the quarterfinals with a surprising 2-1 win over already qualified Spain, with Ibrahim Adel scoring both goals.
Adel gave Egypt the lead in Bordeaux with a fantastic shot late in the first half and added a second on 62 minutes, capitalising on Spain’s Jon Pacheco mistake.
Samu Omorodion scored late for Spain, but Egypt held on for the victory, allowing them to pass their opponents and secure first place in Group C.
