Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, competing in his second Olympic Games for Nigeria, qualified for the men’s Shot Put final in Paris with a best throw of 21.13m.

Although the automatic qualification bar was set at 21.35m, Enekwechi, who has been having the best season of his career in 2024, clinched his berth with his first throw and then backed it up in the second round with 21.00m.

Despite fouling in the third round, his performance was good enough to send him to the final on Saturday night, finishing fifth overall in qualification group B.

He will now strive for gold in the final.
