Chioma Onyekwere, Obiageri Amaechi, and Ashley Anumba, three Nigerian athletes making their Olympic debut in Paris, were eliminated in the women’s Discus Throw qualification.
Ashley Anumba, African Champion, competed in Group A, where she began her campaign with a 57.23m throw, missed her second try, and finished 14th with a mark of 58.83m on her last attempt.

National Champion Chioma Onyekwere competed in Group B, as did African Games Champion Obiageri Amaechi.
The former had her highest throw of 60.78m on her first attempt, but the latter struggled to produce a mark until her final throw, when she recorded a 45.45m.
The duo finished 15th and 16th. Overall, Onyekwere, Anumba, and Amaechi finished 21st, 29th, and 32nd, respectively.
