Favour Ofili says she is convinced she can beat anyone to the finish line after qualifying for the 200m semifinals.
Ofili’s dreams of racing in the 100m sprint in Paris were shattered when AFN neglected to place her name on the roster.
Nigeria’s medal hopeful was furious and vented her dismay on social media after being told she was not entered for the 100m race.

However, she demonstrated why she was one of Nigeria’s greatest sprinters by defeating Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith in the 200m heat.
Ofili, Nigeria’s 100m and 200m sprinter, has boasted ahead of her semifinal 200m race, where she hopes to win an Olympic gold medal.
Favour Ofili spoke exclusively with Making of Champions on X after winning her 200m heat with a strong start.
The Athlete said after the race, “Mentally I am ready… All I know is when I step on that track, I’m going to cross the line before anybody else.
“I don’t care what you ran before coming in here, we are all the same because we are Olympians.”
Ofili was certain that she could beat everyone to the finish line and claimed to be mentally prepared.
The Nigerian won in 22.24 seconds against Dina Asher-Smith, one of the favourites on the circuit.
The 200m queen started the race in lane 2 and got a strong start, putting her in pole position entering the curve.
She then closed the gap on Dina Asher-Smith, who was leading the race, and passed her with a big stride to the finish line.
Ofili will be ready for the 200m semifinal race tomorrow, hoping to advance to the final and earn an Olympic gold medal.
