Olympic Games Paris 2024: Noah Lyles Clinch Gold With 9.79s In Men’s 100m

Noah Lyles, the world champion, stormed to victory in 9.79 seconds to win gold in the men’s Olympic 100m final in Paris on Sunday.

Lyles was the first American, male or female, to win the event since Justin Gatlin at the 2004 Athens Games.

Kishane Thompson of Jamaica won silver in a photo-finish, finishing just five-thousandths of a second behind Lyles.

Lyles’ US teammate Fred Kerley finished third in 9.81 seconds, only one hundredth of a second ahead of South African Akani Simbine, who timed 9.82.

Defending champion Marcell Jacobs of Italy finished fifth in 9.85 seconds, Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo sixth in 9.86 seconds, American Kenny Bednarek seventh in 9.88 seconds, and Jamaican Oblique Seville eighth in 9.91 seconds in an incredible race.
