Morocco’s Olympic team bowed to Spain on Monday night in Marseille, France in the semifinals of the ongoing Paris 2024 Olympics (1-2).
Achraf Hakimi and teammates were the one who opened the scoring thanks to former Raja Casablanca’s star Soufiane Rahimi who converted from the penalty spot.
Unfortunately, the Olympic Atlas Lions failed to defend that advantage in the second half and Spain took the opportunity to equalize first as FC Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez caught Morocco’s defence sleeping.
Sevilla’s Juanlu Sanchez made netted the winner for Spain in the 85th minute and ended Morocco’s dream to win the gold medal in these Olympics.
