Olympic Games Paris 2024: Oborududu Defeat Keeps Team Nigeria Waiting For First Medal

Blessing Oborududu’s medal hopes were dashed as Japanese wrestler Nonoka Ozaki upset the Nigerian to win bronze in the Women’s Freestyle 68kg event at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ozaki was too strong for the 35-year-old Nigerian in the one-sided match, which ended on Tuesday night, August 7.

The Japanese won the tie 3-0, making it a one-sided game.

Oborududu delivered a strong performance, defeating France’s Koumba Larroque 6-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

The world number six athlete displayed her skills on Monday, defeating Canadian opponent Linda Morais 8-2 to advance to the semi-finals.

On Monday, she lost 1-3 against Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan in her effort to advance to the finals.
