Olympic Games Paris 2024: Amusan Pick Semi Final Ticket As Ogunsanya, Others Fumble

World record holder in the Women 100 meters Hurdles event Tobi Amusan today qualified for the 100-meter hurdles semi-finals in the ongoing 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Amusan led the pack of eight athletes with 12.49 seconds, followed by America’s Alaysha Johnson with 12.61 and Jamaica’s Janeek Brown who clocked 12.84 seconds to also qualify.

Amusan is certainly among the favourites for the gold medal, but that won’t come easy, contending with a strong field that includes the Bahamas’ Devynne Charlton, USA’s Alaysha Johnson, world champion Danielle Williams and reigning Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn of Puerto Rico.

The semi-finals will hold on Friday, August 9, while the final is slated for the penultimate day of the athletics event, Saturday, August 10.

Meanwhile, in order games of Day 12 at the ongoing Paris Olympic games, Nigeria cyclists, Ese Ukpeseraye failed to progress to the next round of the Women’s Keirin in the Track Cycling after she finished 6th.

Edose Ibadin also failed to advance in the men’s 800 meters event after she ran one minute forty six point five six seconds to finish 6th place in the men’s 800 metres heat two.

Team Nigeria wrestler in the women’s 53kg freestyle, Christianah Ogunsanya lost to her Mongolia opponent Khulan Batkhuyag in the quarter final to end her medal hopes at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics.
