Rene Wakama, D’Tigress’ head coach, has encouraged the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to increase its investment in women’s basketball.

Despite losing in the quarterfinals, D’Tigress were one of the biggest surprises at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

They overcame highly ranked Australia in the first game and rebounded strongly in the first group game against Canada after losing to France in the second.

They challenged winners the United States in the quarterfinals before losing 74-88.

“Wakama said we need to invest in ourselves.

” We need to invest in ourselves, give the girls the resources and support they need to reach the podium next time.

“We are capable and we have the talent”.

” Everyone on the team is a full Nigeria “.

” We don’t have to go out and get someone like other teams we are born and bred Nigerians.

” But we have to invest in the future and import”, she said.
