La Liga heavyweights Barcelona have re-signed Dani Olmo from RB Leipzig, with the Spanish international signing a six-year contract at the club.
In an official statement on Barcelona’s website, the Catalan giants have announced the return of Dani Olmo. RB Leipzig will reportedly receive more than €60 million after parting ways with the 26-year-old.
Meanwhile, the new Barcelona playmaker has signed a six-year contract, which has a release clause worth €500 million.
Dani Olmo was one of the best playmakers in the Bundesliga during his fruitful spell with RB Leipzig. The German giants signed the Spaniard from Dinamo Zagreb in January 2020, and he was a pivotal figure at the Red Bull Arena in the last four and a half years.
The 26-year-old turned out nearly 150 times for RB Leipzig while chipping in with 29 goals and 34 assists. Olmo overcame many fitness issues to remain a pivotal figure for Die Roten Bullen and contributed to their DFL Supercup triumph last season. Meanwhile, the player was exceptional at the recently concluded UEFA Euro 2024.
The Spanish international won the Golden Boot, sharing it with five other players as La Roja returned to the summit of European football after beating England in the final.
Meanwhile, Olmo’s progress did not go unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs, including Barcelona.
Barcelona attempted to re-sign Dani Olmo during the recent summer transfer windows. However, a move never materialised until this year, with the Spaniard finally returning to his former club after being keen on rejoining them for a long time.
Barcelona had an agreement with Olmo’s entourage, and the move has now seen the light of day.
