AFCON AFCON2025Q: Bafana Bafana To Host Uganda In Soweto

The Confederation of African Football has confirmed that South Africa will begin their qualification for the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations semifinals with a home encounter against Uganda on Friday, September 6, in Soweto.

Their first Group K encounter will be at the Orlando Stadium, with a kickoff time of 6pm.

Bafana Bafana will then travel to Juba to face South Sudan on Tuesday, September 10, with the match starting at 3pm.

It will be their debut game against Africa’s newest country, whose stadium was recently refurbished. When the stadium reopened in June for World Cup qualification, they lost 3-0 to Sudan.

Congo is the other team in Group K of the 2025 qualifiers.

Bafana will play them both at home and away in October, although the dates and locations have yet to be decided.

The top two from each group will go to the 24-team final, with the exception of the hosts’ group, which will see just one other country other than Morocco advance.

The qualifications will take place across three months in September, October, and November.

It will then be more than a year until the finals are held in Morocco, having been pushed from mid-2025 to the end of the year due to a clash with Fifa’s new style Club World Cup.

The Confederation of African Football pushed the 2025 Cup of Nations finals back six months, moving it from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
