Nigerian Players abroad Awoniyi, Aina In Action As Forest Share Spoils With Bournemouth

Ola Aina and Taiwo Awoniyi, both Super Eagles, played for Nottingham Forest in their first Premier League game of the season, which ended 1-1 against visiting Bournemouth on Saturday.

Aina, who started the game, was changed in the 54th minute, with Awoniyi coming on in the 72nd.

After Chris Wood put Forest ahead on 23 minutes, they appeared to be on their way to an opening day victory.

However, with four minutes remaining, Black Stars of Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo levelled for Bournemouth.

Another Super Eagles player, Joe Aribo played at St James’ Park before being substituted after 70 minutes as newly promoted Southampton were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United.

Despite playing most of the game with 10 men, Newcastle won because to Joelinton’s 45th-minute goal.
