Zubairu Aliyu, head coach of El-Kanemi Warriors, has lamented his team’s failure to win the CAF Confederation Cup due to a lack of Grade A friendlies.
El-Kanemi Warriors salvaged a late draw against Dadjè FC in the CAF Confederation Cup Preliminary Round.
Aliyu noted that the squad missed out on vital preseason preparation because the state governor placed limitations that barred players and officials from leaving the state during the strike.

Aliyu voiced dissatisfaction with needing to find shortcomings during the competition rather than in preseason friendlies, emphasising the value of such games in fine-tuning the team.
“It is not good to be using a competition proper to know the weakness of your team.
Looking ahead to the second leg in Benin Republic, Aliyu is still focused on addressing the mistakes made in the first match.
