Chelsea Chelsea Reach Agreement To Sign Joao Felix

Chelsea has reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid to permanently sign Portugal forward Joao Felix, while midfielder Conor Gallagher is likely to sign a five-year contract with the club.

The Blues accepted a deal in principle for Felix, who spent six months on loan during the 2022-23 season and scored four goals in 20 appearances for Chelsea in 2023, to return to Stamford Bridge.

Following his brief stay at Chelsea, he spent last season on loan with Barcelona, where he scored 10 goals and assisted six times in 44 games.

The 24-year-old has signed personal terms on a six-year contract with an option for an extra 12 months, and his transfer is subject to a physical at the club.

Joao Felix has 41 caps for Portugal and appeared twice in the European Championship before returning to Atletico for pre-season.

He would be Chelsea’s ninth summer signing, joining Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, Caleb Wiley, Aaron Anselmino, and Pedro Neto.

Gallagher, an English midfielder, is ready to go to Madrid following weeks of uncertainty about his future at Chelsea.

Felix’s move to Chelsea will clear the way for Gallagher to sign for Atletico, where he was photographed nine days ago in expectation of a move before being forced to return to London last Tuesday due to a flight delay.

The Blues remain interested in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, as the Italian club continues to pursue Romelu Lukaku after making a second loan offer with a £25.5 million buyout clause.

Lukaku remains on Chelsea’s books, but his future at Stamford Bridge is questionable.
