DR Congo ntional team head coach Sebastien desabre has months of unpaid salaries, former Congo left-back Herita Ilunga revealed on social media.
The 48-year old is doing a great job since being appointed Leopards coach in 2022.
He led Chancel Mbemba and teammates to a fourth-place finish in the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Desabre even extended his contract until 2029 few months ago but his salary is not regularly paid as Congo FA owes him Six month unpaid salaries which is €426 000 and this got Herita Ilunga fuming.
“Despite the remarkable efforts of Sébastien Desabre to restore the image and straighten out the leopards, with good results and a much healthier environment, including an exemplary organization, I learn that he is falling far behind in his salary”, Ilunga wrote on X.
“How can we show a good image of the country, as was the case in Ivory Coast, and continue to build the most efficient team by attracting, among others, dual nationals?
“How can we continue to demand excellence without respecting our commitments? I dare to hope that this situation will be resolved as quickly as possible, thanks to the intervention of the competent authorities to avoid diving back into our usual faults”
