Chelsea Palmer Focus On Winning Title With Chelsea After PFA Young Player Award

Although Cole Palmer of Chelsea was happy to receive the PFA Young Player of the Year award on Tuesday, he stated that winning championships with the team is more significant than receiving individual recognition.

In his debut season with Chelsea following his departure from Manchester City, the 22-year-old scored 22 goals in 34 Premier League games.

During England’s seven European Championship games, he played in five of them and scored in the team’s final defeat to Spain.

Palmer stated that he used the Players’ Player of the Year trophy as his phone wallpaper during the previous season as inspiration, but he made it clear that his main goal is the success of the team.

The (last) whole season was a great season for me personally and hopefully, we can kick on this season,” Palmer told Sky Sports.

“I want to win trophies with Chelsea, that is the main thing, and then the individual awards are nice… It’s on me to produce for Chelsea and that’s what I plan to do.”

Palmer just extended his contract with the Chelsea team until 2033. Palmer is the third player to earn the accolade, behind Eden Hazard and Scott Parker.
