Regarding the open Super Eagles position, Swedish coach Janne Andersson has acknowledged that he is in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation.
The Super Eagles have been without a manager for the past few months as a result of head coach Finidi George’s resignation.
One of the leading candidates for the open post is the Swedish gaffer.

The coach confirmed the conversation but emphasised that nothing had been decided upon yet in an interview with the Swedish news agency Expressen.
” I can confirm that I have had a dialogue with the Nigeria Football Federation.
“It’s a huge footballing nation so I’m extremely flattered to be in the running to be their next national team captain.
“Dialogue is ongoing and I don’t really want to say more than that.
“I have been in this industry for so long and know that things can happen in different ways.
“So we’ll see what happens in the future”, he said.
Meanwhile, ahead of the first game of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers, the Super Eagles camp has been scheduled to open September 1 in Uyo.
Nigeria opening game will be against Benin Republic on September 7, before the yake on Rwanda on September 10.
