CAF Champions League CAFCL: Red Arrows to target more goals against Nyasa Big Bullets – Kakonje

Red Arrows assistant coach Kalililo Kakonje says the 2-1 loss against Nyasa Big Bullets of Malawi is behind them and will be looking to score more goals in the return leg and qualify to the next round.

Speaking ahead of the second leg of the preliminary round CAF Champions League clash with the Malawian champions, Kakonje said the airmen were focused on getting things right at home.

He said Nyasa Big Bullets was a good side that posed a serious challenge to Arrows in the first leg. “We did not score as many goals as we would have loved in Malawi. We created a lot scoring opportunities which we did not convert. Going in tomorrow’s game, we will be looking at scoring more goals than we did in Malawi,” he said.

“Looking at the fact that we conceded two goals. We have been trying to solidify our defense as a team, we will try to keep a clean sheet, if we have to concede, we have to concede less goals than we conceded at home. Hopefully we will score more goals than we did away.”

Kakonje said the airmen would not be distracted by their good run in the period preceding the CAF assignment. “It is very easy for us to be carried away if we are doing well. We are not going to ride on past glory, we will approach the game as it is supposed to. We realised that Nyasa is a big team that was evident in the game that we had,” he said.“

The first leg is behind us; this is a new game.”Red Arrows host Nyasa Big Bullets on Saturday (tomorrow) at National Heroes Stadium in the return leg of the CAF Champions League which kicks off at 15:00 hours. The airmen trail the Malawian outfit 2-1 from the first leg.
