Top News Mikel Fires Back At Jackson In Another Verbal War

In an increasingly heated exchange of words with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi has responded sharply.

Jackson’s outstanding performance at Molineux Stadium, where the Senegalese striker scored the game’s first goal and as Chelsea triumphed 6-2 against Wolverhampton, which sparked the argument.

Jackson responded to Mikel Obi’s recent remarks after the game.

The former Chelsea player had previously expressed dissatisfaction with Jackson following the Blues’ opening English Premier League loss of the 2024–25 campaign against Manchester City.

You need a striker who knows how to find the back of the net, and that’s something we’re missing,”Obi remarked.

“I know I often criticise him [Nicholas Jackson], and it may come across as disrespect, but that’s not my intention.”

Jackson responded angrily on social media, evidently offended by Obi’s remarks:

“Mikel Obi, shut your mouth, don’t talk shit. We are killing ourselves in Africa.”

Mikel Obi responded to Jackson’s comments by saying he wouldn’t say anything more until the young striker could score goals on a regular basis.

“I like the guy as a football player, and I haven’t said he’s a bad player at all.

I’ve just said that his finishing qualities are not there.

“He’s a young boy, and all I’ve said is that he needs a more experienced striker at the club to help him improve, to help him get better.

“If he plays well, I will praise him.

“If there’s something that needs to be said about him, where he needs to improve, I will definitely say it.

“If he scores every week and tells me to shut up, I will take that,” Obi declared.

The next weekend, Chelsea will play Crystal Palace in the English Premier League before hosting Swiss team Servette.

As the club gets ready for these important games, Jackson will be motivated to establish his value and continue his recent success.
