Nigeria’s Falconets fell short to Mexico by a single goal in a thrilling friendly match on Monday night in Bogot.i
This was their last practice before the 11th FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup championships got underway on Saturday.
The Mexican team scored the game’s lone goal in the 20th minute, but they had to fend off advances from the Nigerian team repeatedly on the Club Banco de la República field.

Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, the President of the NFF, complimented the Falconets for their outstanding performance and urged them to take heart from their victory over Australia in a friendly last Friday as they prepare for the global finals.
He was joined at the game by General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, Head of Women’s Football Amina Daura, and Chairman of the Technical and Development Sub-Committee Sharif Rabiu Inuwa.
At the 10,000-capacity Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota on September 2, Nigeria will play Korea Republic in their opening encounter of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finals.
Two days later, they will play Germany, the three-time champions.
At the Estadio Pascual Guerrero in Cali on September 7, they play Venezuela in their last group stage encounter.
