The South-South Zonal Elimination competition is set to take place in Edo State as part of the lead-up to the 2024 National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta State.
It is expected to start today and end on September 1, 2024.
Athletes vying for berths in the 8th Edition of the National Youth Games in Asaba will compete in nine sports in the South-South area.

The competitions will be held at different locations in Benin City, per the event schedule approved by Mrs. A.P. Efe-Amenze, Director of Sports Development and Operations at the Edo State Sports Commission.
The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium’s Indoor Sports Hall will host the handball competition.
There will be beach volleyball at Ihogbe College on ICE Road, hockey at St. Maria Goretti College on Upper Sokponba Road, and boy’s and girl’s cricket matches at Edo Boys College and Iyoba College, respectively.
Rugby will be held at Edo Boys College, and football matches will take place at Western Boys College.
The Wire Road and Etete Indoor Sports Hall will host volleyball, basketball, and traditional sports (Abula).
Mrs. A.P. Efe-Amenze has urged all South-South participating teams to work closely with the Edo State Sports Commission in order for Edo State to provide a successful and well run event in Benin City.
