Prestina Ochonogor of Team Nigeria qualified for yesterday’s World U-20 Athletics Championship in Lima, Peru, long jump final with a leap of 6.28 meters.

With a jump of 6.28 meters, Ochonogor’s mark was the second-best in the qualifying round, only surpassed by Laura Martínez of Spain, who cleared 6.37 meters.

Ayla Hallberg Hossain of Sweden, Vanessa Lokuli of France, and Sophia Beckmon of the USA (6.16 meters) are among the other leading competitors for the championship.

With a time of 11.61 seconds, Justina Tiana Eyakpobeyan advanced to the semi-finals in the women’s 100-meter race and finished ninth overall in the heats.

Chioma Cynthia Nweke, who finished in heat 6 with a time of 12.24 seconds, sadly could not advance.

Regarding the men’s 100Sunday Okon easily won heat 3 of the men’s 100 meters in 10.46 seconds, guaranteeing his spot in the semifinals.

Nevertheless, Chidera Ezeakor’s heat 7 run of 10.92 seconds was insufficient to guarantee a place in the semi-final.

Oseiwe Salami, Odot Effiong Udo, Gafari Badmus, and Favour Onyah of Nigeria finished in the second heat of the Mixed 4x400m Relay with a season-best time of 3:25.59, but were unable to move on to the semi-finals.
