Mali Football Federation anounced the appointment of Tom Saintfiet a the new Eagles’ head coach as a remplacement of Eric Chelle.
Chelle, 46 was fired in June as Mali conceded a 0-2 home loss to Ghana Black Stars while coming back from South Africa only with a point in the second tier against Madagascar.
With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers set to start in September, Femafoot decided to hire a new coach and he knows African football well.
“The Belgian technician, Tom Saintfiet (51 years old) is the new coach of the Eagles of Mali,” Femafoot statement reads.
Saintfiet was in charge of Philippines national team since February but he will now be back to Africa, the land where he took his coaching career to another level.
