Italian left-winger Federico Chiesa has joined Premier League side Liverpool on a four-year deal from Serie A giants Juventus Turin.
The 26-year old was linked with a move to La Liga powerhouse FC Barcelona but the deal felt through as the Spanish side did not have the needed space in the financial fair-play to complete his signing.
Liverpool jumped into the opportunity and signed him in deal worth €15m.
“Liverpool have reached an agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Federico Chiesa, subject to international clearance”, LFC announced.
“The 26-year-old forward has successfully completed a medical and finalised a long-term deal – and is now set to join up with the Reds squad.”
Speaking after completing the move, Federico Chiesa said : “I’m so happy to be a Liverpool player. When Richard Hughes called me and he said, ‘Do you want to join Liverpool?’ – and the coach called me – I said yes immediately because I know the history of this club, I know what it represents to the fans.
“So, I’m so happy and I can’t wait to get started.”
