Eniola Bolaji, who is currently competing in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, made history by becoming the first African athlete to win a medal in the sport of para-badminton.
She defeated Kozyna Oksana of Ukraine 21-9, 21-9, and she also won a bronze medal for Nigeria in the Women’s Singles SL3 category.
Following her loss in the semi-final match on Sunday, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, congratulated Bolaji on her victory earlier today.

Senator Enoh emphasised to all athletes competing in the Paralympics that they should be passionate about winning.
” As a ministry, we have made available what you need, make all of the sports-loving people of Nigeria proud of you, fly the nation’s flag very high in Paris. I believe in your capacity.
“Having done all we should as government, we are rooting for you. It is now over to you to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.”
This medal marks Team Nigeria’s first victory in the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games this season.
The Paralympic games are in progress; on the same day, Bolawa Akingbemisiu, Kayode Alabi, and Isau Ogunkule will play table tennis in the Round of 16.
