Burkina Faso equalised to force a 1-1 draw in Senegal’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Diamniadio Olympic Stadium on Friday, September 6.
Senegal was denied victory at the very end. After Sadio Mane’s sixth-minute goal appeared to have given the Lions of Teranga all three points in Dakar, Ousseni Bouda scored a free kick deep into stoppage time to give the Stallions a share of the victory.
After tying 1-1 with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and defeating Mauritania 1-0 in June to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, Aliou Cisse’s team was eager to maintain their winning streak.

The Al-Nassr winger pounced on a defensive blunder to slip his effort past the custodian, giving the hosts a celebration opportunity as early as the eighth minute, when Mane attempted a blast at goal.
However, the home defence held strong as their counterparts from West Africa attempted to re-enter the game before halftime, showing that they were not intimidated.
After Burkina Faso launched a risky attack and forced Seny Dieng to make a save on minute 58, the Senegalese goalkeeper was finally put into action early in the second half.
In the 74th minute, however, Dieng had to be alert once more to deny another goal-bound drive.
The last few minutes of the game saw the Lions of Teranga dominate possession but produce little of note.
In added time, Bouda punished them with a superbly struck free-kick that beat Dieng.
