AFCON AFCON 2025: Nshuti vows to score for Rwanda against Nigeria’s Super Eagles

Striker Innocent Nshuti insists he wants to score more goals to help Rwanda increase hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The One Knoxville forward had his name back on the scoreboard as his lone goal in the second half rescued a point for Rwanda after a hard fought 1-1 draw with Libya in Tripoli on Wednesday, September 4.

Rwanda returns to action on Tuesday when they host the Super Eagles of Nigeria who thrashed Benin 3-0 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday but Nshuti is only focused on keeping his goal scoring momentum no matter the opponent.

“As striker, I should score always but we work as team and, if one scores it is a team goal; so we have to be one that’s the way we play. When strikers score goals, their confidence goes up and I am happy to score that goal and I believe I can do more going forward,” Nshuti said as quoted by Times Sport.

Rwanda, who have been in impressive form under German gaffer Torsten Spittler, will be hoping to make it to AFCON for the first time since 2004.

They host Nigeria at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, September 10 while Libya will travel to face Benin for the second match day of the qualifiers.
