The Democratic Republic of Congo has taken a huge advantahe to advance to the 2025 AFCON following a 2-0 win against Ethiopia on Matchday 2 of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
In a game that saw the host looking to pull a victory against their visitors, Ethiopia failed to make their fans happy.
Ethiopia pushed pegged the visitors to their own area and just three minutes, Birhanu Bekele threatened SR Congo but his right footed shot from more than 35 yards is high went wide to the right.

That was quickly followed by a header from the Ethiopian team and this time it was Chernet Gugsa whose header from the centre of the box missed to the left.
DR Congo gradually began to find their feet and in the 9th minute the visitors missed an attempt as Charles Pickel headed from the centre of the box but missed the top left corner.
Ethiopia missed another chance to break the deadlock as Bekele right footed shot from the centre of the box again missed to the right.
Both teams headed to the break without finding the net missing clear cut chances.
Theo Bongoda who came in as a substitute in the 32nd minute broke the deadlock for DR Congo in the 62nd minute with a left footed shot from the centre of the box to the top left corner assisted by Joris Kayembe with a through ball.
Fiston Mayele doubled the lead in the in 76th minute through a header from the centre of the box to the bottom right corner.
The victory ensured that DR Congo top Group H with six points from two games while Tanzania and Ethiopia have one point respectively after two games.
Rocking the bottom of Group H is Guinea who are yet to will play against Tanzania.
