Chad’s quest to make their first-ever AFCON appearance began on Friday at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex when they managed to hold off Sierra Leone for a goalless draw.
Conversely, Ivory Coast, the defending African champions, began their qualifying campaign with a favourable result when they defeated Zambia 2-0 on Friday.
Paris FC striker Jean-Philippe Krasso single-handedly put the visitors to shame after a goalless first half at the Stade de la Paix, scoring twice in an 11-minute span to give the D all three points.
Ivory Coast has now won seven of their last two games in all competitions, going nine games without losing.
On February 11, they defeated Nigeria 2-1 to win their third AFCON championship.
As they take on a team that has lost 12 and drawn four of their last 18 games in all competitions since November 2015, Ivory Coast will be hoping to pick up where they left off on Saturday.
