The Super Eagles of Nigeria and Rwanda fought to a scoreless draw in their second Group D match of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers on Tuesday in Kigali.
The Eagles lead the group temporarily after two games played with four points, while Rwanda is in second place with two points after their second draw.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru replaced Alex Iwobi in the starting lineup, the only alteration made by interim coach Austin Eguavoen.

The Eagles’ next AFCON qualifier is a home match against Libya on matchday 3 in Uyo, which is slated for October 6. The rematch is set for October 14.
The first significant opportunity came to Bruno Onyeamachi in the third minute, but he was unable to convert a clear cutback by Ademola Lookman.
After Victor Boniface put a pass to Wilfred Ndidi, the striker’s low effort was superbly stopped by the custodian in the fifth minute.
After a minute, Bonheur Mogisha was unmarked inside the box but his header from a cross went narrowly over the crossbar.
A Rwandan player’s goal-bound attempt was blocked by Calvin Bassey in the thirteenth minute.
After driving into the opponent’s box in minute fifteen, Ademola Lookman came dangerously near to scoring, but the custodian hurried out of his line to stop him.
Lookman thought he had given the game the lead on minute 22 when he headed in a Semi Ajayi cross, but his effort was called back for a foul.
A few moments later, Boniface came close to opening the score but was stopped when his cross-shot attempt was deflected for a corner.
In the 37th minute, Lookman’s header off the rebound was cleared, but Boniface’s left foot strike struck the crossbar.
Onyemaechi headed a cross with five minutes remaining in the first half, but his attempt was just missed.
A Rwandan player attempted a risky cross inside the Eagles box just before halftime, but Stanley Nwabali collected the ball coolly in the air.
The Eagles substituted Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon for Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze prior to the start of the second half.
After being passed through on goal in minute fifty-five, Simon came close to opening the score, but the keee rushed out to block his effort for a corner.
The Rwandans had a terrific exchange of play in the 68th minute, but their final attempt was missed.
Ten minutes remained when Nwabali successfully collected a long ball in the air from a Rwandan player.
Ola Aina attempted to cross into Rwanda in the 84th minute, but his attempt was halted, preventing him from reaching safety.
Aina’s solo run was cut short after a few minutes by a punch, and Lookman’s attempted volley was also stopped by the goalie in the final seconds.
Nwabali was called upon to act at the opposite end and produced a nice save.
In stoppage time, Osimhen came up to meet a cross and nearly won it for the Eagles, but the goalie made a fantastic save.
