Suspected of “money laundering, tax fraud, misuse of corporate assets and omission of accounting entries”, former French footballer Djibril Cissé is at great risk.

This Wednesday, the Bastia Criminal Court requested a one-year suspended prison sentence and a 100,000 euro fine for the former Olympique de Marseille player, who was absent and represented by his lawyer.

As reported by French media RMC, the former French international (41 caps, 9 goals) allegedly failed to declare a sum of 550,000 euros placed in an account linked to a simplified joint-stock company (SASU) domiciled in Furiani – the Frenchman’s place of residence – and placed in receivership.

The verdict of his trial will be delivered on November 13 in Bastia.
