AFCON PHOTOS: President Ruto assures Kenya will be ready to co-host 2027 AFCON

President William Ruto has assured the country will be ready to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

The Head of State said in a statement: “Kenya will be ready to co-host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in 2027. The preparations of our three stadia – renovation of Kasarani and Nyayo and construction of the brand new Talanta Sports City Stadium – are progressing well.

“We commit that Kasarani and Nyayo will be ready by the end of this year for African Nations Championships (CHAN) 2025, while Talanta Sports City Stadium will be completed by December 2025 for AFCON 2027.”

Ruto was speaking after holding a meeting with Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe at State House Nairobi. Mostsepe expressed satisfaction with the preparations of AFCON.

Others in attendance were Cabinet Secretary for Sports Kipchumba Murkomen and Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa.
