Virgil van Dijk, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ibrahima Konate helped Liverpool overcome a poor start to defeat AC Milan 3-1 at San Siro on Tuesday, marking their Champions League comeback after a year away.
In the match between the two European powerhouses, Liverpool had a terrible start when Christian Pulisic put Milan ahead in the third minute with a fast counterattack made possible by Liverpool’s clumsy defence.
But the six-time champions turned the tide and controlled the majority of the remaining play. Konate equalised in the 23rd minute, diving high above a huddle of opponents to head home a free kick from Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Just before halftime, to the joy of over 4,400 travelling supporters, captain Van Dijk gave Liverpool the lead by nodding home a corner from Kostas Tsimikas.
In the 67th minute, Szoboszlai put the game away for Milan when he slid into the far corner from Cody Gakpo’s cross.
