The Super Eagles of Nigeria remained ranked 39th in the most recent FIFA World Ranking, which was made public on Thursday, September 19, 2024.
The Eagles are ranked sixth in Africa, behind teams like Tunisia, Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, and Côte d’Ivoire.
Africa’s top team is the Atlas Lions of Morocco, ranked 14th; Senegal and Egypt are ranked 21st and 31st, respectively. Cote d’Ivoire, the winners of the Africa Cup of Nations, is placed 33rd, while Tunisia is 36th.

Libya plummeted to 121st place and will now face the Eagles on matchdays 3 and 4 of the AFCON 2025 qualifying round.
The Eagles held Thierry’s place despite an outstanding performance in the AFCON 2025 qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin Republic.
The team drew goalless with Rwanda in Kigali and defeated Benin Republic 3-0 in Uyo under interim coach Austin Eguavoen.
In the meantime, the FIFA World Ranking’s top 10 remains unchanged.
World Cup winners Argentina is still at the top, followed by Brazil in fifth place, France in second, Spain in third, and England in fourth.
Belgium is in sixth position, followed by the Netherlands in seventh, Portugal in eighth, Colombia in ninth, and Italy in tenth.
