The Zambia U20 Men National Team wrapped up the week with an impressive 2-0 win over Red Arrows in a practice match played at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.
The Young Chipolopolo invoked the winning spirit two days after losing to ZANACO 2-0 in a similar practice match that was used to prepare the team for the COSAFA U20 Championship due from September 26 – October 1 in Mozambique.
Forwards Eliya Mandanji and Lawrence Lubinda scored in either half to down the Airmen who had the likes of George Chaloba, Kebson Kamanga, Twiza Chaibela, Lubinda Mundia and Chitiya Mususu in their squad.
The Airmen’s core team is in Lubumbashi for the CAF Champions League where they seek to overturn a 2-0 defeat suffered against TP Mazembe if they are to make it to the group stages of Africa’s top tier competition.
The Zambia U20’s win over Red Arrows provided a timely boost for Boyd Mulwanda’s boys as they continue to sharpen their tactics ahead of the tournament, which serves as a qualifier for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The finalists at the regional tournament will earn a spot in the continental competition.
