The Guinean football federation announced that Michel Dussuyer, a Frenchman, has been named the team’s new coach.
This is his third spell in charge of the national squad.
An experienced coach in Africa, Dussuyer oversaw Guinea from 2002 to 2004 and again from 2010 to 2015.
In addition, he has coached Benin twice and led the Ivory Coast from 2015 to 2017.

In six separate Africa Cup of Nations competitions, the 65-year-old former custodian has guided Guinea to the quarterfinals in both 2004 and 2015.
After Guinea lost a World Cup qualifying match against Mozambique in June, they fired former striker Kaba Diawara of Arsenal and Paris St. Germain.
Dussuyer will be the third coach for Guinea this year.
The 2025 Cup of Nations qualifying campaign began this month with Guinea’s initial two games under Charles Paquille’s coaching, and the team had a rough start, losing both at home against Tanzania and away to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On October 11 and 14, they will play two more games in the Cup of Nations preliminary round versus Ethiopia.
Because neither Ethiopia nor Guinea possesses a stadium that has been certified suitable to host internationals, both matches will take place in the Ivory Coast.
