Accra Hearts of Oak secured their first three points of the season after a thrilling victory over Bechem United. From the blast of the referee’s whistle, the Phobians dominated the game, relentlessly applying pressure on their visitors. Despite numerous attempts, the first half ended in a stalemate as both sides struggled to break the deadlock.
The second half, however, saw Hearts of Oak pick up right where they left off. Just seven minutes in, they found the back of the net through a brilliant Ransford Mensah free-kick in the 52nd minute. The crowd erupted in celebration as the home team gained the advantage. Bechem United tried to mount a response, but Hearts of Oak remained firm.
In the 72nd minute, last season’s top scorer, Hamza Issah, doubled the lead with a well-placed header beyond the reach of the Bechem United goalkeeper, effectively sealing the win for the Phobians. Hearts of Oak continued to dominate until the final whistle, ensuring their first win of the season.
Speaking to en.africatopsport.com after the game, Coach Ouattara described the match as “normal” and emphasized that the technical team is focused on building the squad’s consistency. “We are preparing a team that will start playing with a lot more consistency,” he added, hinting at a bright season ahead for the Accra-based club.
