A new affair that could once again tarnish FIFA. According to information from the Swiss daily Blick, Gianni Infantino, the president of the International Football Federation, is said to occupy a luxurious apartment at the expense of the organization.
The residence, which has a large terrace and a superb view of Lake Zug between Lucerne and Zurich, is said to cost around €8,370 per month, entirely paid by FIFA.
The Swiss media outlet also points out that the president of the body is said to be paid more than four million euros per year. A salary that has reportedly seen a sharp increase, of around 15% more than the previous year.
FIFA emphasizes, however, that all of its president’s remuneration “is regulated by contract and set by an independent committee.” “This corresponds to the standard remuneration package for high-level executives in many organizations in Switzerland,” a spokesperson explained to Blick.
